Colloidal Minerals & Health
By Jonathan Glauser
Minerals play a critical role in the health of all living organisms. They are constituents of bones, teeth, soft tissues, muscles, blood, and nerve cells. All bodily processes depend on the action and interaction of minerals, and all tissues and internal fluids of the body contain varying quantities of minerals.
Without the aid of minerals, our bodies could not assimilate vitamins. Although our bodies can produce a few vitamins on their own, we cannot manufacture a single mineral. We therefore must receive all necessary minerals from the substances we put into our bodies. It may surprise you to learn that many of the minerals the body requires for optimum health are heavy metals. In small quantities, certain heavy metals are nutritionally essential, such as iron, copper, manganese, and zinc. Others, such as silver, gold, and platinum, are not considered essential, but may still enhance mental and/or physical health.
A common perception is that heavy metals are bad for our health. In reality, we could not live without many of them. There are a number of heavy metals that are required in the diet, and when the intake is insufficient, symptoms of deficiency arise in the form of disease. The problem is not our contact with trace amounts of heavy metals found naturally in the earth. It is when exposure to these elements reaches a limit that exceeds the body's ability to metabolize them. Heavy metals then become toxic because they accumulate in the soft tissues and displace other minerals that should be present. This has most often been caused by industrial applications, such as lead in paint and gasoline, or mercury in thermometers and dental amalgams.
Some minerals are found in abundance in the body, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus, and potassium. These are called macro minerals. Other minerals are found only in trace amounts, and are therefore called trace minerals. There are over 50 trace minerals, many of which are heavy metals, that promote health and a state of well-being. Three of the most useful mineral supplements derived from heavy metals are colloidal silver, colloidal gold, and colloidal copper. Colloidal silver is well known for its anti-microbial properties, and silver has been utilized in medicine for hundreds of years. The benefits of colloidal gold and colloidal copper are less well known.
Colloidal Silver
Colloidal silver is a health enhancer that acts as a powerful, all-natural antibiotic. It is comprised of submicroscopic particles of silver and silver ions that remain suspended, or colloidal, in distilled water by an electric charge placed on each particle. It is the most bioavailable form of the most effective germ killer known. While pharmaceutical antibiotics kill an average of 6 or 7 types of bacteria each, colloidal silver has been proven to kill over 650 different disease causing organisms at the UCLA Medical Labs. It is reported to be both a remedy and a preventative for colds, flu, and all infections caused by any bacteria, virus, fungus, or yeast. It works by disabling the enzyme that single-celled organisms need for their oxygen metabolism. Germs suffocate within 2-6 minutes of contact with silver, without any corresponding harm to human enzymes or tissues. Colloidal silver is safe, non-toxic, has no drug interactions, and can be used daily. The body does not build up a tolerance to it, and germs cannot become resistant to silver. Because of its high bioavailability, colloidal silver is typically absorbed into the bloodstream before it can reach the good bacteria of the intestines. If larger amounts than normal are needed, taking probiotics may be helpful in maintaining healthy intestinal flora.
Silver is one of the many minerals that our bodies need to function properly. Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D., author of The Body Electric and Cross Currents, noticed a correlation between low silver levels and sickness. People who had low levels of silver were frequently sick and had recurrent colds, flu, fevers and other sickness. Unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, he found that silver was able to kill a wide range of germs without any side effects or damage to the cells of the body, and stimulated major growth of injured tissues. Dr. Becker concluded that the presence of the silver ion may aid tissue regeneration and the elimination of old or cancerous cells, as well as any other diseased or abnormal tissue condition.
The anti-microbial properties of silver have been utilized since ancient times. As far back as 4000 BC, the wealthy stored their food and drinks in silver vessels to keep them fresh. They also preferred to eat with silver utensils and platters ensuring a constant trace amount of silver in their blood. This kept them healthy, even during plagues. Up until the 1930's, colloidal silver was the only antibiotic available, but it was very expensive to produce. It was replaced in favor of cheaper, patentable pharmaceuticals like penicillin and sulfa drugs. Today, colloidal silver is affordable, and silver is widely used for medicinal and industrial uses. For example, a silver-based cream is used in 70% of all burn wards, and a silver solution is placed in the eyes of all newborn babies, which is required by law in this country. Bandages and wound dressings are now often laced with silver.
Colloidal silver shows great potential to wipe out diseases that are today considered incurable, such as Hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS. Numerous people have reported a complete cure from Hepatitis C by taking adequate amounts of colloidal silver for an average of three months. In The Micro Silver Bullet, author Dr. Paul Farber presents many documented cases of people making full recoveries from HIV and AIDS by using colloidal silver. He also details his near death experience with Lyme disease and how he rid himself of it, as well as a yeast infection he developed from initially taking pharmaceutical antibiotics, through the utilization of silver. Although colloidal silver has been proven in a laboratory to kill the HIV virus and every virus that was tested, it is against FDA rules to recommend it for treating the HIV virus.
Colloidal silver can empower people to take responsibility for their own health. When taken daily, it is like having a second immune system, resulting in more energy, vitality, faster healing, and reduced bodily toxins. Using it is a powerful preventative health measure with the potential to enhance the lives of millions of people susceptible to chronic infections of all kinds.
Colloidal Gold
Gold is known to be a powerful, yet subtle, pain reliever, and has been used by medical doctors to treat arthritis since 1927. It was famous over 100 years ago for its role in healing heart conditions, improving blood circulation, and rejuvenating sluggish organs. Gold has been shown to be especially helpful for conditions that affect the mind, emotions, and spirit. Willpower is also said to increase, and for this reason gold was once commonly used in the U.S. to treat dipsomania (uncontrollable craving for alcohol). An increase of willpower from gold has reportedly helped many people overcome obesity and drug addiction. Europeans have long been aware of the benefits of gold in the body, and have been purchasing gold coated pills and 'gold water' over the counter for over a century. Gold seems to have a calming effect on the nerves and elevates mood, and has been successfully used to help alleviate anxiety and depression. The gold-based homeopathic remedy, aurum metallicum, is used to treat people in a suicidal state. Hot flashes and chills are said to be helped by gold. Today, state-of-the-art technology is used to produce colloidal gold solutions that are extremely bioavailable. High quality colloidal gold is reddish-purple in color, and contains only pure 24k gold in pure distilled water. It is very safe to use daily, even in very high dosages. However, people with bi-polar disorder should consult their physician before taking colloidal gold.
Colloidal Copper
Copper is an essential mineral for health. It is found in all body tissues, and is most concentrated in the liver, kidneys, brain, bones and muscles. It is necessary for: the absorption and utilization of iron, the formation of hemoglobin, the manufacture of bones, cartilage, hair, blood, and neurotransmitters, keeping bones, blood vessels, nerves, and cell membranes healthy, the formation of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs - the cement that bonds tissue components together), skin health, and maintaining hair color, among other things. Some of the external signs of a copper deficiency are skin sores, eczema, age spots, varicose veins, wrinkles, sagging skin, and grey hair. Copper applied to the skin and scalp is an excellent way of delivering additional copper to the body. Doing this is believed to directly stimulate collagen, elastin, and GAGs formation, thus promoting smoother, younger looking skin while increasing the skin's ability to retain moisture. It also stimulates copper dependant enzymes which help to rejuvenate and repair the skin. Some claim it reverses grey hair, and copper has been called the elixir of youth. It's been used for millennia by empresses, queens, princesses, and the rich and famous of their day, together with gold for beauty and anti-aging treatments. Copper is a powerful antioxidant and is helpful for inflammation, and has been shown to be more effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis than aspirin. Colloidal copper is the copper supplement of choice because it contains ultra small nano particles of pure copper in pure distilled water, and nothing else.
Hopefully, this article has dispelled many of the myths surrounding heavy metals. Although they've gotten a bad name, many heavy metals play important roles in the body, and can be valuable additions to the health-conscious lifestyle.
