Vita Coco is a naturally delicious, revitalizing and nourishing drink consisting of only pure coconut water from hand selected young green coconuts. Most people don’t realize there is an enormous difference between green coconuts or coco verde and the brown coconuts or coco maduro found in the grocery store. The young green coconuts are harvested in the north of Brazil. The average age of this coconut is about 7 months, the best age to extract sweet coconut water that is fat-free (before the coconut ages, turns brown and the water turns to hardened “meat”). These young green coconuts give this coconut water a sweeter taste than most coconut waters on the market.
Coconut water is high in potassium, containing alkalizing minerals such as magnesium and calcium and is excellent for replacing electrolytes, rehydrating, and rejuvenating the body. Coconut water also contains high levels of lauric acid, which is what the body uses to make monolaurin, a disease-fighting fatty acid derivative. Vita Coco natural coconut water is pasteurized by machinery that uses a patented method to extract the coconut water, then filter and flash pasteurize it for two seconds before packaging the coconut water in its aseptic Tetra Pak package. (As per FDA guidelines, flash pasteurization is mandatory for bottled beverages.) Only Tetra Pak can stabilize and give the coconut water a shelf life of 12 months, allowing it to be 100% natural – no additives, no preservatives, and all the healthful benefits.
Vita Coco coconut water does not need to be refrigerated prior to opening; however, it should be refrigerated after it’s opened and enjoyed within 48 hours.
