New Chapter's Supercritical Herbal Extraction Process
Great extracts start with great fresh herbs. That's why they have their own organic spice estate in Costa Rica where they sustainably grow ginger and turmeric. They employ a process called "supercritical" extraction. This process uses concentrated carbon dioxide (CO2) to dissolve and extract the herb's lipophilic constituents. No chemical solvents or high temperatures are used.
This innovative extraction process yields a superior herbal extract that is highly concentrated, with up to 250 pounds of fresh herbs reducing to just 1 pound of supercritical extract. This Supercritical process also produces an extremely broad representation of the herbs lipophilic (oils, fatty acids, etc.) constituents. Some of the most precious and necessary plant ingredients in such important herbs as ginger, turmeric, Holy Basil, evening primrose, saw palmetto, valerian and rosemary come from these lipophilic constituents.
